The Medical Univeristy of Gdańsk in cooperation with the Marshal’s Office of Pomorskie Voivodeship, the City of Gdańsk, the University of Gdańsk and the Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk from the beginning of January 2023 has been implementing the second stage of the Culture of Respect campaign dedicated to equality and equal treatment in the broadest sense, and entitled Diverse & Equal.

As part of this campaign, a new debate Equality in Diversity / Równość w Różnorodności is being organised. We will be most pleased and honoured to discuss diversity and equality with representatives of Students and Alumni of the Medical University of Gdańsk, and with our special Guest Mr. Andrzej Ziółkowski, traveller and author of the albums “The Inward Moment – The Human Being and The Sacred” and „Universal Wisdom”.

The event will take place on 6th of June 2023 at 4 p.m. in Auditorium Primum, Prof. Olgierd Narkiewicz Memorial Hall at Atheneum Gedanense Novum GUMed (al. Zwycięstwa 41/42, Gdańsk) and will be broadcast live on MUG’s YouTube channel. The debate will be held in English. Its original recording will be made available on the University’s media channel shortly after the date, and the translated Polish version a few days later. If possible, translation to Polish Sign Language will be added at a later date.

The objectives of the debate are to bring diversity of our academic community to light and focus, inspire and reinforce positive attitude and appreciation of diversity in our academic community, and emphasize the need for equality and discuss our individual and collective actions to make it reality at the University and beyond.

	Ms. Princess Ijeoma Anieke	first-year MUG English Division nursing student from Nigeria; member of the student team who organized the presentation of some countries of Africa during the Diversity Day (May 18th, 2023)
	Mr. Faisal Al Maghlooth, MD	MUG English Division graduate of 2022 from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; graduated with Rector’s award and distinction; during the studies he joined multiple student scientific circles, fraternities and PhiDE; currently doing internship year in Saudi Arabia; interested in cardiac surgery and transplantation
	Ms. Shraddha Singh	fifth-year MUG English Division medical student from India; vice-chairwoman of the board (2022-23) of the Student Scientific Society of MUG; co-leader of the Student Scientific Circle of Surgery and Emergency Medicine; assistant to the Treasurer, International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations, Poland; chairperson of the 28th edition of the International Student Scientific Conference at the MUG 2023; holder of Rector’s Award 2022 for engagement in and activity to the benefit the student community at MUG
	Mr. Marlon Ross Souza Luis, MD	MUG English Division graduate of 2021, born in UAE, Indian by ethnicity, Canadian by nationality; before studies at the MUG completed a BSc in Human Biology and Mathematics at the University of Toronto; winner of the Interstudent award in 2021; currently completing a PhD at the Medical University of Gdańsk and working as a foundation doctor in the UK
	Ms. Fanny Sunesson	sixth-year MUG English Division medical student (soon to be graduate of 2023) from Landskrona, Sweden; Year Representative for the past 5 years; active in several student scientific circles, co-leader of the Neurosurgery Scientific Circle, member of the Lung Transplant Scientific Circle; avid fan of horse riding, member of the MUG Horse Polo Team
	Ms. Alejandra Vivas	third-year MUG English Division medical student, born in Cali, Colombia, grew up in New Jersey, United States; has a background in Biology and Latin studies; founder and president of the American Medical Student Association Chapter at the Medical University of Gdańsk; recently awarded the Paul R. Wright Chapter Success Award for AMSA of the USA
	Mr. Andrzej Ziółkowski	graduate of the Technical University in Gdańsk, native Polish; general manager in a multinational electronics corporation in Germany and Singapore; since 2005 a traveler and photographer interested in spiritual photography of the world religions; author of photo albums and picture exhibitions
